• Can my child wear spikes at the State Track & Field Championships?

• I am competing in both a track event and a field event at similar times?

  ​Report to the marshal at the field event first so they know you are in attendance. The field event marshall will allow you to leave the field event in order for you to compete in the track event at the scheduled time or when marshalling commences for this event.

• Who qualifies to compete at the SSV State Championship for Track and Field?

  ​Primary Students must come first or second at their Region Track and Field Championship to progress through to the SSV State Championships.  Secondary students must place first to progress in all events with the exception of 1500m walk, 1500 run and 3000m run in which 1st and 2nd placegetters will progress.

  ​This will vary depending on the venue, please ask for specifics on arrival or check the course map for the particulars you are seeking.

• What do we do when we arrive at a Region Track and Field event?

  ​Check the program to determine what time your event/s start, report to the marshall at that event either 15minutes prior to the scheduled time or when the event is announced, if in doubt go and ask the marshal at the event well prior to the scheduled event time.​

  The student has qualified to progress to the SSV State Championships, please find the information on the SSV website. Visit the sport page for Track and Field and find the State Championships event. 

• What should my child wear on event day?

  Please refer to the specific dress code outlined in the rules for each sport. For individual sports, students are expected to wear their official school sports uniform to ensure they are appropriately representing the school.

• How do we determine which District, Division or Region my school is in?

• I have a multiclass student who'd like to participate in upcoming SSV interschool track and field events, when and how can they get classified?

  ​It is best if the parent commences the process to get classified as soon as you know they will compete at your school level for track and field. The process takes some time. Visit the multiclass page of the SSV website to obtain information and the links to the organisation who are responsible for providing the classifications. 

• If my school has been impacted by the bush fires, what does that mean regarding sport?

  ​SSV considers the playing of sport an important aspect of resilience in affected communities. Please make contact with your relevant Region School Sport Officer in the SSV office (9084 9001). SSV will do our best to make provisions for your school.

• Is the event likely to be cancelled if it rains?

  ​The championship will be conducted through most weather conditions including moderate rain, in the event of heavy rain or lightning the event may be delayed or postponed.

• Who will tell me what my child or student needs to do next or if they have progressed to the next level of competition in any sport?

  ​All information from the Division level is on the SSV website. If your school is unable to advise on the details that you require you can contact your district, division or region Coordinator to obtain the information you require.  

  It is best practice however to check the SSV website for all event information, add the ssv media to all your devices so you have the latest information on everything.  Check the SSV Competition Pathway and Progression Policy.

• We didn't get an email about the state final. Do you send schools the information about the state final?

  ​The SSV website is the best point of call for all the most up to date information about state finals. All the state events are in the Event Calendar. e.g. draws are updated with the school's names of the region representatives as the region winners are known. Any last-minute changes to venues (very rare) or cancellations due to poor weather (very rare), schools are contacted directly by email as well as the website is updated.
