School Sport Victoria (SSV) is proud to enable sport (Play), champion the value of school sport (Value), and connect our schools with the broader community (Connect). We celebrate every athlete who takes to the track or field, offering inclusive opportunities for students of all abilities.

Competition Pathway

In the primary pathway school teams can progress from matches with local schools through to the State Championship:

District > Division > Region > State

And for secondary schools, the pathway allows progression through three levels:

Division > Region > State

The Track and Field State Championships are a highlight of the school year, bringing together the best young athletes from across the state at both primary and secondary levels.

Who Can Participate?

SSV offer a wide range of age categories to ensure every student can participate and thrive.

Event Details and Programs

Our championships showcase a variety of Track and Field disciplines. Students can compete in:

• Track Events: Sprints, middle-distance, long-distance, and hurdles (primary only).
• Field Events: Throws and jumps.
• Team Spirit: 4 x 100-metre relay events for each age group.

Age Groups

• 9 to 10 years, 11 years, and 12 to 13 years.
• Multiclass: 9 to 10 years, 11 years, and 12 to 13 years.
• 12 to 13 years, 14 years, 15 years, 16 years, and 17 to 20 years.
• Multiclass: 12 to 14 years, 15 to 16 years, and 17 to 20 years.
