Academic and Sporting Achievement Medal

At School Sport Victoria, we are dedicated to developing young people through school sport. Our mission is to Play by enabling sporting opportunities, Value school sport as a vital part of education, and Connect our schools with the wider community. We celebrate every student, including those in mainstream and multiclass programs, who strives for their best both in their studies and in their physical activities.

The SSV Academic and Sporting Achievement Medal is a prestigious award available annually to all Full and Associate member schools. It is designed to be presented at your end-of-year ceremonies to honour students who achieve high academic results while making a strong contribution to school sport.

Recognising Your School's All-Rounders

This award is a powerful way to inspire future generations and acknowledge the hard work and dedication of your students.

• Medal Allocation: Each school can receive up to two medals.
• Inclusion: Awards are limited to a maximum of one girl and one boy per school, regardless of how many campuses your school has.

What Makes a Strong Sporting Contribution?

We look for students who lift the spirit of their school through sport. This includes:

• Showing outstanding sporting leadership qualities.
• Participating in SSV Region and State Finals.
• Representing Team Vic or State Sporting Association teams.
• Contributing at a grassroots level across various sports with great teamwork.
• Encouraging fellow students and boosting school morale.
• Making a significant impact through officiating, such as coaching, managing, or umpiring school teams.

Defining Academic Success

Academic achievement is about more than just top marks. It can include:

• Excelling to a high level across several different subject areas.
• Showing consistent improvement and a dedicated application to studies.

Note for Schools: You are welcome to adjust these criteria to suit your local needs. You may also choose to nominate a specific year level to ensure a variety of students are recognised over time.

Important Guidelines and Dates

The medals are provided at no cost to member schools..

• Delivery: Medals are posted directly to School Principals in a bulk mailout during mid-November.
• Support: If you have not received your medals by late November, please contact the SSV office on (03) 9084 9001.
• Closing Date: Ensure your nominations are submitted by the final Sunday in November.
