School Sport Australia (SSA) present the Cross Country Championships on an annual basis.
These championships offer gifted and talented students the opportunity to participate in higher levels of sporting competition against students from other Australian States and Territories. Participation in a School Sport Victoria Team Vic state team is self funded. As a guide, it may cost between $1,500-$2,000 to participate. Costs may include uniforms, host state levies, flights, transport, accommodation and meals. Costs will vary depending on the location of the Championship.
Students who wish to be considered for the Team Vic State Cross Country Team to participate in the SSA Cross Country National Championships will need to qualify at each SSV interschool level (district, division, region) to then be eligible to compete at the SSV State Cross Country Championships. Selection for the Team Vic Team for the above two age groups is determined by individual performance at the SSV State Cross Country Championships. Details regarding the Team Vic Opportunity for this sport is listed in the Event Calendar on the right hand side of this page.
School Sport Victoria does not enter a 13-19 Years and 13-19 Years Multi Class Cross Country individual team in the SSA Cross Country Championships.
Athletics Victoria selects a team from the Victorian All Schools Cross Country Championship Event held in June each year. Interested students should register directly with Athletics Victoria when registrations open. (Approximately between February and April of each year)
