School Sport Victoria (SSV) is seeking passionate, committed and energetic Primary and Secondary Region and Primary Division Coordinators to join the SSV family to deliver interschool sport to Victorian students.

SSV Coordinator positions play an integral role in SSV providing school sport opportunities for Victorian students and provide important leadership opportunities in school sport.
The successful applicants will be responsible for the delivery of the SSV interschool sport program at the respective Region or Primary Division level and support the SSV Region School Sport Officer and the SSV Operations Team.

SSV are seeking:

Applications for the following positions:

  • 55 Primary Division Coordinator positions across Victoria
  • 32 Region Coordinator positions which comprise of 4 positions (2 Primary and 2 Secondary) per SSV Sporting Region 
  • All positions attract a special payment 


These positions are open to teachers from Full and Associate member schools. Non-teachers may apply for the positions but will require their own ABN.

Positions will be appointed in 2022 for 12 months, with an option to extend for a further 12 months.

Note that SSV Primary District and Secondary Division Coordinator positions are appointed by the group of schools in each respective Primary District or Secondary Division. Any persons interested in these positions would need to contact the current SSV Coordinator or speak to your school Principal.

The successful candidate will be required to provide operational, management and coaching support for the relevant School Sport Victoria Team Vic state team participating in School Sport Australia Championships in 2022 and 2023.

​Skills required:

  • Demonstrated adherence to the Victorian Public Sector Values
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated management / coaching in the particular sport at a school / community or higher level.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the management and coaching of student athletes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the rules and regulations of the School Sport Australia Championships.
  • All Officials are required to commit to the School Sport Australia Codes of Behaviour and the SSV policies and procedures relating to state teams
  • Coaches must hold a current National Coaching Accreditation Scheme (NCAS) qualification in the relevant sport.
  • Managers must hold current first aid qualifications.
  • All teacher applicants must hold current VIT registration. Non-teacher applicants must hold current Working with Children (WWC) accreditation.

Call for Expression of Interest for the School Sport Victoria Advisory Committee


Introduction

School Sport Victoria (SSV), as part of the Department of Education and Training (DET), seeks nominations from suitably experienced people to fill a vacant position on the Advisory Committee, commencing in 2022.

The SSV Advisory Committee supports the strategic management of SSV, including its strategic directions, key programs and stakeholder partnerships.

The SSV Advisory Committee is part of the governance model for SSV, which formally commenced in 2021.

In accordance with the SSV Advisory Committee Terms of Reference, an Expression of Interest process will be undertaken for vacant positions. Appointments will be approved by the Chair.

SSV's School Sport Victoria Strategic Directions 2020 to 2030 aims to provide a clear direction for School Sport Victoria to engage more Victorian students in school sport by creating more opportunities to participate and addressing future challenges.

SSV's purpose is to develop young people through school sport and role is to enable students to play sport, champion the value of school sport and connect school and community sport.

 

SSV's priorities over the five-year period to 2025 are to:

  • Enable students of all abilities and those from low socio-economic areas to participate in a variety of sports which are integrated within school sport pathways.
  • Engage primary school students (9 to 13 years) to participate in a variety of sports, to build foundation skills, concentration, confidence and enjoyment.
  • Retain secondary school students (12 to 18 years) in sport, through competitive and social formats, to support social belonging, resilience, leadership and academic learning.
  • Encourage girls to participate in sports which are inclusive and leverage existing social friendships.
  • Enhance the development of students' athletic abilities, leadership and wellbeing through talent pathways.

Advisory Committee Positions

The vacant Advisory Committee position is for a School Sport Victoria member school representative - South Western (Greater Western Region, Western Metropolitan Region) (2-year appointment)

 

Additional information

1.      The required skills, experience and/or knowledge for this position is outlined in the SSV Advisory Committee Role Description.

2.      The SSV Advisory Committee membership aims to ensure a diversity of skills and experience, background, sector representation and gender. SSV encourages people from all backgrounds to apply, including women, Aboriginal Victorians, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, regional areas and people who identify as LGBTIQ+. The Committee shall have a minimum of 40% women.

3.      A nominee may nominate for more than one position, relevant to their skills, experience and/or knowledge. A separate nomination form must be submitted for each position.

 

Instructions

1.      Nominations for the above position are currently open and are to be submitted by completing an online Nomination Form. Nominations will be assessed as they are submitted for an appointment, therefore nominees are encouraged to submit their nomination as soon as possible.

2.      Nominations are to include:

  • A signed Nomination Form, including two referees supporting the nomination
  • A current resume not exceeding 3 pages, and
  • A cover letter not exceeding 2 pages, addressing the required skills, experience and/or knowledge relevant for the nominating position.

3.      All supporting documents submitted by a nominee will be circulated to the Selection Panel. At its discretion, the Selection Panel may undertake referee checks and/or undertake an interview with the nominee.

4.      Appointments will be approved by the Chair of the SSV Advisory Committee.

5.      Announcements of SSV Advisory Committee will be made as soon as they are appointed.

School Sport Victoria (SSV) is on the hunt for students to join SSV's inaugural Student Leaders Group.

The aim of the Student Leaders Program will be to provide feedback and advice to School Sport Victoria to help guide and shape the future of school sport.





SSV's digital presence is a constantly growing and valuable piece of the communication strategy. Photos, videos, and live streaming make up the vital elements of our digital experience, that the audience engaged with SSV events and connected to the participants has grown to love and expect. SSV regularly requires suitably skilled and passionate media personnel to make up the Livestream Crew and Media Team to deliver a high-quality digital experience for the audience.

Once applicants are approved the SSV Communication Team will be in touch to seek availability for up and coming events.
