Last year School Sport Victoria (SSV) facilitated the donation of 1,526 clothing items by merchandise partner DMC Sport to the East Arnhem Regional Council (EARC) supporting the 9 East Arnhem Communities.
The donations were successfully delivered in the communities meeting the needs of school children and youth during the dry season. Positive outcomes from the project:
✅ Ripple effect in terms of expanding opportunities for sport participation in the communities, strengthening social bonds, promoted inclusivity, and assisted with building a vibrant community.
✅ The EARC youth, sport, and rec team worked closely with community leaders, elders, schools, and other aboriginal organisations regarding fair and even distribution of the items.
✅ Empowering lives including provision of comfortable clothing, and overcoming financial barriers, which has instilled a sense of confidence, inclusivity, and opportunities in the communities.
✅ Community support including uplifting spirits and fostering a sense of community support and solidarity.
✅ Promoting well-being and increased participation with children in EARC encouraged to embrace the positive impact of sport on their overall health.
