By becoming a Team Vic official, you help connect Victorian students with high-level sporting pathways while championing the values of fairness and achievement.
Role Responsibilities
All Team Vic officials act as mentors and leaders. SSV requires officials to maintain a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all students.
Duty of Care and Safety
Provide a high standard of supervision for students during trials, training, and championships.
Ensure student wellbeing is the top priority, following all SSV and School Sport Australia (SSA) safety policies.
Act as a positive role model for students and parents at all times.
Report any injuries or incidents promptly to the SSV office.
Team Leadership
Manage team behavior both on and off the field to reflect SSV’s values.
Ensure all team members are dressed appropriately for travel and competition.
Organize the election or appointment of team captains.
Support student-athletes to become self-managing and confident.
Communication and Logistics
Liaise with parents to ensure they understand team policies and their own responsibilities.
Manage travel logistics, including meeting times, luggage check-in, and seating arrangements.
Ensure students have all necessary contact information for their team officials.
Attend and vote at championship meetings according to SSV guidelines.
Specific Official Roles
SSV appoints several key roles to ensure every Team Vic experience is successful.
Team Coach
Do you have the skills to develop young talent? The Team Coach focuses on performance and athlete development.
Attend all trials and training sessions to provide expert guidance.
Develop a sequential training and fitness program for the team.
Provide personal player evaluations and feedback to help students grow.
Requirements: Must hold a current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration (preferred), Level 1 National Coaching Accreditation, and current CPR qualification.
Team Manager
Are you an organized leader? The Team Manager handles the vital administration and welfare tasks that keep the team running smoothly.
Coordinate team documentation and parent communications.
Manage travel, accommodation, and daily schedules during championships.
Liaise with SSV and host state representatives to ensure a seamless tour.
Requirements: Must hold a current Working with Children Check and First Aid qualification.
