  Student Assistant Coaches

  In 2026, SSV is offering a student leadership program for students who are interested in pursuing state team representative opportunities as student assistant coaches.

  For 2026, the opportunity to apply for a role as a student assistant coach is available in the following sports:

  • 15 Years and Under Volleyball
  • 14 Years and Under Australian Football
  • 12 Years and Under Basketball
  • 12 Years and Under Football (Soccer)

  Student Officials

  SSV provides students with the opportunity to represent Victoria as an official at the School Sport Australia Championships in a variety of sports and roles.

  SSV invites expressions of interest from students who wish to represent their state as a student assistant coach or student official. Prospective students will go through a selection process outlined below.

  Step	Action	Description
  1	Submit Application	Provide an online application including a resume, coaching accreditation, officiating accreditation, and a letter of support from your school.
  2	Shortlisting	Eligible applicants are shortlisted for an interview.
  3	Interview	Interview of shortlisted applicants (we prefer a parent or guardian to be present).
  4	Outcome	Notification of the final decision.

• Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  SSV may provisionally select student officials who meet the following requirements:

  • Age: You must be of an appropriate age for the SSA Championship you are applying for (generally older than the championship age group).
  • Accreditation: You must hold an appropriate level of accreditation.
  • Experience: You must have a reasonable level of experience, which is to be approved by the relevant National Sport Advisor.
  • Permission: You must have permission from your school principal to attend the SSA Championship.

  Note: If selected, you will be invited to assist with selection trials and team training in the lead up to the event.

• Costs and Financial Assistance

  Student official roles are voluntary and unpaid. Families are responsible for all travel arrangements, including transport, accommodation, and supervision during the championship.

  We encourage families to utilise SSV’s fundraising partner, the Australian Sports Foundation, to assist with the costs of participation.

  To support participation, financial assistance may be available through School Sport Australia travel subsidies:

  Category 1: Intrastate Travel	$100.00
  Category 2: Interstate Travel	$400.00

  Families can also use the SSV fundraising partner, the Australian Sports Foundation, to help cover costs.
