Team Vic Team Official Position Description

Are you ready to help Victorian students reach their sporting potential? School Sport Victoria (SSV) invites passionate teachers and sports professionals to apply for Team Official roles. By joining Team Vic, you will lead state representative teams at the School Sport Australia (SSA) Championships, providing students with life-changing opportunities to compete at a national level.

Team Vic is the prestigious representative program for SSV. As an official, you don’t just coach or manage; you champion the values of school sport—Play, Value, and Connect. These roles offer significant professional development and the chance to mentor the next generation of Victorian athletes.

Essential Role Responsibilities

All Team Vic officials hold a vital "duty of care" for students. SSV relies on officials to be positive role models who ensure a safe, inclusive, and fair environment.

Supporting Our Students

  • Supervision and Care: Provide high-quality supervision during all trials, training sessions, and championships.
  • Positive Role Modeling: Maintain a professional standard of behavior that reflects the values of SSV and the Department of Education.
  • Safety First: Be aware of all SSV and SSA policies and report any injuries or incidents immediately to the SSV office.
  • Inclusivity: Ensure all students, including those in multiclass programs, feel supported and included in the team environment.

Leading the Team

  • Conduct: Manage student behavior and team spirit both on and off the field.
  • Presentation: Ensure all team members are correctly dressed in Team Vic uniform for travel and competition.
  • Communication: Act as the primary link between SSV, the students, and their parents or carers.
  • Leadership: Facilitate the appointment of team captains and encourage student-led leadership.

Specific Opportunities

Team Coach

Do you have the expertise to develop elite student talent?

  • Deliver a sequential training and fitness program leading up to national events.
  • Keep detailed records of performance to provide students with constructive feedback.
  • Provide every team member with a personal player evaluation to support their growth.
  • Requirements: Level 1 National Coaching Accreditation (or higher) and current CPR qualification.

Team Manager

Are you an organized leader who thrives on logistics?

  • Manage all team documentation and parent communications.
  • Coordinate travel, luggage, and seating arrangements for interstate trips.
  • Liaise with host state representatives to ensure a smooth championship experience.
  • Requirements: Current First Aid qualification.

Important Requirements for Applicants

To ensure the safety of all participants, applicants must meet the following:

  • Teachers: Must hold current Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) registration.
  • Non-Teachers: Must hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • Principal Approval: Teacher applicants must have endorsement from their school principal.
