This policy sets out the requirements and consequences if a school withdraws from an SSV Competition without the required notice.
School Sport Victoria (SSV) is responsible for the organisation and administration of school sport for member schools at the Primary and Secondary level. SSV currently conducts Championships in a number of sports at Primary and Secondary levels.
This policy applies to interschool team sports only, including Premier League competitions.
The non-attendance of a school at a Region Competition or State Championship puts undue inconvenience on the organisers, conveners and other teams.
Late or no notification of the withdrawal of a team does not allow the organisers time to find a replacement team, notify other schools, alter the draw or alter bookings for venues and umpires/referees and as a result can impact financially on the competition.
The Fines Policy is in place to draw the attention of schools to their responsibility of notifying the organisers or conveners in a timely fashion of their intent to withdraw. Failure to do so will then incur a fine.
The school will face a fine of $100 if a team withdraws from a Region Competition, State Championship or Premier League less than two (2) school days prior to the finals and a replacement team cannot be found.
