These rules apply to State, Region, and Division competitions. Variations at Region and Division levels are available on the relevant event page.
Match Format
Consult the SSV website or contact the relevant Coordinator for Region and Division match formats. State Format: Split Round Robin and State Final.
State Match Format
State Match Schedule A Pre-Championships Briefing for all teams occurs before the first round. Refer to the Basketball Draw on the SSV website for the schedule.
State Round Robin Winner Points: 4 for a win, 2 for a draw, 0 for a loss. If two teams are equal, the head-to-head match result determines the winner. If that match was a draw, or if more than two teams are tied, the winner is decided by percentage (total points for divided by total points against).
State Final Winner If teams are tied at the end of the final, the game is extended by 3-minute periods until a result is reached.
Competitions adhere to the SSV ‘General Conditions of Competition’, ‘Codes of Conduct’, and ‘Participant Behaviour Policy’.

No Zone Defence (Year 7 Only) Man-to-man defence is compulsory for the entire game. Zone defence is prohibited.
Each school must supply a competent scorer and timekeeper. SSV appoints referees for State Finals.
Singlets/tops must be the same design and colour, legally numbered 00-99. Shorts must be the same design and colour with no pockets. Players in shorts with pockets cannot take the court. Uniform violations incur a 5-point penalty per player (maximum 20 points per game).
Teams over 10 minutes late without notice may be penalised one point for every minute late.
