Team Vic 12 Years and Under Captains Lead the Sheffield Shield Team Out

Team Vic 12 and Under Cricket Captains, Elizabeth Cormackand Oliver Peake, had the privilege of acting as flag bearers today at the Sheffield Shield Final leading the Victorian and NSW teams on to Junction Oval in St Kilda.

Elizabeth and Oliver decided that it was best to choose who would carry each flag after a game of rock, paper, scissors. While Oliver was the winner to carry the Victorian flag, in an amazing gesture toward his fellow Team Vic alumni, Elizabeth, Oliver chose to carry the New South Wales flag knowing that Elizabeth really wanted to carry the Victorian Flag and lead the Victorian team out. You can find all the photos on teh SSV facebook Page

Oliver was complimented by those around him and reinforced that the School Sport Victoria Team Vic program is about making emerging student athletes better people.

For the record, the Victorian team taking the field today involved several Team Vic Alumni including Travis Dean (Captain), Sebastian Gotch, Sam Harper, Will Pukovski and Matt Short plus former Victorian School Sports Awards Winner, Cameron White.

Elizabeth and Oliver both represented Team Vic in the 12 and Under cricket in the School Sport Australia Championships held in December 2018 in Mandurah, WA. Elizabeth and her team mates secured the bronze medal while Oliver and his team remained undefeated and took the SSA gold medal and the Ricky Ponting Cup.

Keep an eye out for Elizabeth Cormack and Oliver Peake as the flag bearers of today might be the stars of tomorrow.

Team Vic registrations for 2019 have closed but opportunities for 2020 open on 1 December, 2019.
