Team Vic Alumni Competing at the 2022 Commonwealth Games

Team Vic Alumni Competing at the 2022 Commonwealth Games
29/07/2022

The Birmingham Commonwealth Games start 29 July 2022. More than 5,000 athletes representing 72 nations and territories are set to compete in 19 sports and 280 medal events over a packed 11 days. How exciting?!

We’re so proud to have had some of these extraordinary athletes come through the Team Vic Pathway. As the teams have been announced we’ve checked through our growing Team Vic Alumni Database and are excited to share that 37 athletes have come through Team Vic.

A total of 435 athletes will don the green and gold, Australia’s second largest team of all time (Gold Coast 2018, 473).

The team consists of 231 female athletes, 203 male athletes and one non-binary athlete. 84 are Victorian-born. There are 351 able-bodied members and a record 76 Para-sport members, with eight guides, pilots and directors to assist the Para-athletes. The athletes will be supported by a well-credentialled crew of 321 team officials, comprised of coaches, medical practitioners, technicians and scientists, and management, operational, and media services personnel. This takes the total Australian contingent to 756 people.

The youngest competitor is 14-year-old Melbourne diver Charli Petrov and the oldest is 63-year-old Queensland lawn bowler Cheryl Lindfield.
