Important SSV events update - Regarding coronavirus
Updated as at 23 March 6:02 pm
The Department of Education and Training (DET) is continuing to monitor and act on the advice of the Victorian Chief Health Officer and the Department of Health and Human Services about the ongoing situation related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The latest advice from the DET is available on the Department of Education and Training website.
School Sport Victoria has postponed all inter-school sporting events and competitions until further notice.
We recognise the hard work from teachers and students in preparing to participate in these events. We also recognise the incredible work of our committed School Sport Victoria Coordinators and sporting partners in organising and running events.
At this stage, we are unable to advise whether postponed events will be rescheduled at a later date or cancelled and not run in 2020. Further advice will be provided as soon as available.
Please continue to keep updated through your school and by checking School Sport Victoria communication via our website (www.ssv.vic.edu.au), Facebook (School Sport Victoria) and Twitter (@SchoolSportVic).
Team Vic events including selection trials and training have been cancelled. This also means that Team Vic teams will not be competing in School Sport Australia Championships.
In addition, School Sport Australia has announced that all Championships for 2020 are cancelled.
School Sport Victoria will be communicating with those who have registered for Team Vic during this week. We will also be advising on aspects such as refunds.
Reducing your risk
Good hygiene practices are the most effective means of minimising the spread of COVID-19, and schools and parents should continue to encourage these practices. This information is on the Department of Health and Human Services website - Ten ways to reduce your risk of coronavirus.
