Interschool Sport

Updates to interschool sport policies and resources: SSV is undertaking a review of all interschool SSV policies and resources for 2025. SSV policy documents are located on the SSV website: School Sport Victoria – Downloads

Key changes to policies will be communicated through the SSV website and enews over the coming weeks. 


Australian Football Primary: 2025 will see the 9v9 Australian football primary format played across all primary competition levels. The 18v18 format is no longer part of the SSV primary interschool sport program. Read more


Multiclass classification trial for Autism Spectrum Disorder Athletes: SSV has joined with Sport Inclusion Australia and Athletics Australia to continue the trial in 2025 for students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in athletics.  Stjudents with ASD will be able to compete in SSV Cross Country and Track & Field competitions. 

Students classifed with ASD can already compete in SSV Swimming Competitions

Students do need to be classified with Sport Inclusion Australia prior to participation in the trial at any SSV competition level. Click here for more information 

Students with this classification are eligible for Victorian swimming state team representation in 2025. Track & Field and Cross Country are to be introduced at a state team representation level in the future. 


State Representative Teams (Team Vic) 

New Leadership Program for State Team Representatives: Students selected to one of the Team Vic teams will have the opportunity to take part in a leadership program that they can complete in their own time. Information will be distributed to students selected to state representative teams. This program is scheduled to commence in April 2025. 


Student Match Officials:  Throughout 2025, SSV will be featuring opportunities available for student match officials (umpires, referees, judges and scorers) to represent their state at the School Sport Australia Championships. Further information will become available on the SSV website in February 2025. 


Student Assistant Coach Program: Additionally, SSV will be providing more opportunities for Victoria’s emerging talented junior coaches to represent Victoria as assistant coaches on state teams. These opportunities build on the pilot program held in 2024. Further information will become available on the SSV website in March 2025.
