Team Vic Athletes Ready to Soar at School Sport Australia Games
On Saturday, 13 July the State Netball & Hockey Centre was buzzing with excitement as 311 young Victorian athletes were celebrated at a multi-sport Team Vic presentation day. These talented emerging athletes, representing a diverse range of sports, are competing at the School Sport Australia Games on the Gold Coast with different competitions taking place from 24 July to 3 August 2024.
School Sport Victoria is thrilled to be sending 12 teams across six sports to represent our state:
- Australian Football 15 Years & Under Boys – 25 students, 5 team officials, 5 student officials
- Australian Football 15 Years & Under Girls – 25 students, 5 team officials, 5 student officials
- Basketball 12 Years & Under Boys – 10 students, 2 team officials
- Basketball 12 Years & Under Girls – 10 students, 2 team officials
- Basketball 16 Years & Under Boys – 10 students, 2 team officials
- Basketball 16 Years & Under Girls – 10 students, 2 team officials
- Hockey 15 Years & Under Boys – 16 students, 2 team officials
- Hockey 15 Years & Under Girls – 16 students, 2 team officials
- Netball 15 Years & Under Girls – 12 students, 3 team officials, 2 student officials
- Softball 18 Years & Under Boys – 15 students, 3 team officials
- Softball 18 Years & Under Girls – 15 students, 3 team officials, 1 student official
- Swimming 10-19 Years – 147 students, 9 officials
Special guests Anne-Marie Harrison, CEO of the Victorian Institute of Sport, and Laura Hingston, National Team Diver and VIS Athlete joined the celebration to inspire and encourage the young athletes.
