Raise the Bar Academy
Athletics Australia, together with the University of Melbourne is now accepting applications to the
2019 Raise the Bar Academy.
- What: The Raise the Bar Academy is a University and Athletics pathway academy for Indigenous secondary school students in Year 10, 11 and 12 (in 2017)
- When: The Academy takes place during the 15-18 January 2019. Application Deadline: 5 pm (AEST) Monday 29 October, 2018.
- Who: We are looking for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander secondary school students who are passionate about athletics and determined to pursue further education beyond secondary school
- Cost: Successful applicants don't pay a cent! All expenses are covered by the Academy. We accept up to 40 students.

Collingwood’s Next Generation Academy (NGA) is open to participants aged 11 to 15 years and who live within our designated NGA Zone. Girls and boys from all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds, are encouraged to register and get involved! Prior football experience is not a prerequisite to participate in Collingwood’s NGA.

Life Saving Victoria
Water Smart Award
Royal Life Saving's Water Smart program provides a classroom-based resource for teaching water safety education. The aim of the award is to make all Australian children 'Water Smart' ensuring they can actively and safely participate in aquatic activities.
There is no cost to run the program, and all resources are free. The only cost is for the certificates, which are ordered through Life Saving Victoria at the conclusion of your program. The cost for each certificate is $1.

Netball School Championships
The Netball Victoria Schools Championships are one of the largest netball tournaments conducted in Australia and attracts Government, Catholic and Independent school teams from around the state.
Teams play in a round robin format across multiple preliminary days across Victoria with the top teams advancing through to the finals day at the State Netball Hockey Centre where the State Champions are crowned.
Rowing Victoria
The Inaugural 'SSV Indoor Rowing Champs' is an annual event aimed to give all students who currently attend an SSV (school Sports Victoria) School the opportunity to compete in the sport
of Indoor Rowing in both an enjoyable and competitive environment regardless of experience and ability as no rowing experience is required.
The day will commence with a welcoming address and technical session on the Rowing machines for all competitors which will be run by current World Indoor Rowing Record Holder and two time Olympic Silver Medalist Josh Dunkley-Smith.
All races will be connected to a projection system, creating a live virtual race, allowing spectators to cheer along.

Safe Play Code
Did you know Rugby League has a Safe Play Code which makes the game different to what we see on TV. The Safeplay Code was developed to emphasise safety and good conduct within the game of Rugby League by creating the best possible on-field environment and actively controlling undesirable actions. It applies to all players up to and including the Under 15 years age group.

The Pierre de Coubertin Award is a prestigious award which recognises secondary school students who demonstrate values which are consistent with the Olympic Movement through participation in sporting activities.
Every school is invited to nominate a year 10, 11 or 12 student to receive this award. The awards ceremony will be held on Friday, 22 June 2018, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Schools may jointly enter a composite team if they have insufficient numbers e.g. “Northern Melbourne High Schools”. If you need assistance in finding schools in a similar position, contact the WPV Office.
Schools cannot jointly enter a composite team to create a “super team”. WPV may request an explanation detailing why a composite team is required and may deny the entry if the reasons given for a composite team are unsatisfactory.
