School Sport Victoria is pleased to announce new partnerships with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation (VRGF) and Baseball Victoria (BV) until the end of 2023.
The VRGF partnership sees the foundation delivering 30 responsible gambling sessions to selected Team Vic teams to help educate our young athletes on the risks surrounding betting. Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation CEO Shane Lucas said, "The Foundation was proud to partner with School Sport Victoria to deliver up to 30 Sport and Leadership Training sessions for young people over the next 18 months. Research shows that about 32 percent of men and 10 percent of women aged 18–24 gamble on sport, and participation is rising. It's no coincidence that the largest group of sports bettors in Victoria is the first generation to grow up with gambling ads. We're proud to partner with School Sport Victoria to show young leaders that sport and betting don't belong together."
The partnership with Baseball Victoria will see BV strengthening its commitment to school sport including supporting the SSV interschool sport and Team Vic baseball programs. Baseball Victoria CEO Chet Gray said "Victorian baseball has a long history in schools across the state, and we are thrilled to partner with School Sport Victoria to further strengthen this relationship and bring baseball opportunities to more school students. We look forward to supporting SSV in the delivery of school baseball competitions as we strive to grow the game and support participants at all levels."
